The good news is that you can prevent problems before repairs need to be made. These are the most common home repairs (and how you can prevent them).
Scratched floorboards
Wooden floorboards are beautiful. At least they are when you first install them. Over time, however, they get inevitable scratches. Even if you are careful not to drag furniture, simple foot traffic will cause the occasional scratch and they build up. Eventually, they can look dirty and ugly. At this point, most people consider calling a professional.
But you don’t need to let them get to the stage at which you or a handyman are sanding the entire floor. Rather, you can service your floors every few months. If you are consistent in this, your floors will always look good and you will never have to embark on a massive job. Basic cleaning supplies, along with some sandpaper and steel wool, should be all you need.
Shower mold
Every shower eventually gets moldy. The fact is that constant moisture leads to mold and rust and, unless you’re not using it, your shower should be constantly wet. When the mold gets bad, you may need to call in a professional or even redo tiling. Some showers get so bad the doors need to be replaced entirely.

Dented walls
Most people have dented walls around their homes. This is simply because doors get flung open against them time and time again. In some homes, you end up never seeing these dents in the corner of every room. In others, the damage becomes visible.

This will save you from cringing every time the door bangs open, and you won’t need to replaster and repaint those small spaces every few months.
